Droptop for Mobile Oil Change: A Lube Bay System With a Van Setting
Droptop is the strongest quick lube system on this list for a mobile crew, and it is still lube shop software with a mobile option added. It looks up plates through CARFAX, bills fleets with payment terms and credit limits, and publishes a month-to-month price, but it has no app in either store, names no routing, documents no offline mode, and sells online booking as an add-on with no area or capacity limit documented.
Out of 100, number 2 of 6. Mobile Service Sync: 100.0.
Best for: A brick-and-mortar quick lube, or a lube shop adding one van to the building it already runs.
What Droptop Does Well in the Bay
Droptop treats the vehicle the way an oil change business needs to: its oil change plans search CARFAX by plate and decode VINs. Fleet profiles carry payment terms, credit limits and discounts, so a local fleet can run a tab the way it would at the counter.
The price is on its pricing page. Starter is $165 a month per operation for 150 invoices, plans run month to month, and the 14-day trial form asks for no card. The web app fits a phone screen, and that part of Droptop's mobile pitch holds up.
What the Van Finds Missing
The mobile oil change page lists 31 included items, and they match the list on the lube shop home page word for word, down to the integrated sticker printer, the cash drawer and the time clocks. The scheduling screenshot on that same page books cars into Bay 1, Bay 2 and Bay 3, and the help article for starting an order ends with Send to Bay.
A help article edited on 11 October adds a Mobile Service (Vehicle Based) operation type, and it still has no routing and no service area setting. Dispatch in Droptop means choosing which tech or vehicle gets the order; nothing named on its pages puts the stops in order or counts the drive between them. It runs in a browser, there is no Droptop app in the App Store or Google Play, and nothing in its material describes working without a connection.
Online booking is the Scheduler, a hosted web page sold as an add-on at $35, $55 or $90 a month, with no area or capacity limit documented. Inventory is kept per operation, with nothing per van. Texts go out for invoice updates and reminders, and Droptop does not say whether a customer can text back. Auto printing sent from a phone needs the store's Windows computer on the same WiFi, which is a question worth asking about a van.
The pricing FAQ says there are no setup fees, and a few answers later charges a one-time fee to move your data: $250 for customers and fleets, $1,000 for invoice history. The API that the mobile page lists as included is $35 to $130 a month on the pricing page, and the integrated card reader is $299 plus $10 a month per terminal and $15 a month for cellular.

Where Mobile Service Sync Picks Up
Mobile Service Sync matches Droptop on the plate lookup, the fleet terms and the published monthly price, then adds the parts a van runs on: one click orders each tech's stops by drive time, the app is native on both stores and keeps closing jobs with no signal, booking is held to your hours, service area and working vans, and stock is counted per van. Core is $49 for 20 jobs a month; Growth is $175 with unlimited jobs and two users.

Questions About Droptop
- Is Droptop good for a mobile oil change business?
- Droptop is good quick lube software with a mobile setting, and a van will feel the difference. It has CARFAX plate lookup, fleet profiles with terms and credit limits and a published month-to-month price, but no store app, no routing named, no offline mode documented, and booking as a paid add-on with no area limit documented.
- Is Droptop mobile friendly?
- Yes: its site and web app fit a phone screen. A phone screen alone does not give a van an order for its stops, a booking page that knows the service area or a way to keep working when the signal drops, and Droptop documents none of those.
- How much does Droptop cost?
- Starter is $165 a month per operation for 150 invoices, Growth $220 for 300 and Powerhouse $295 for 1,000. The Scheduler for online booking adds $35, $55 or $90 a month, the API $35 to $130, and moving your data costs $250 to $1,000 once.
- Does Droptop have an app?
- Not in the App Store or Google Play. Droptop runs in a web browser on the phone, and its material says nothing about working without a connection.
