Bay Software Against Van Software: What a Quick Lube System Assumes

Quick lube software assumes the car comes to you, and a mobile oil change goes to the car, so a bay system leaves the route, the phone, the signal and the booking map to you. The table below sets each assumption beside what a van needs, with Droptop, LubeSoft and PM Attendant's own published facts and Mobile Service Sync's in every row.

Every cell read from the vendor's own pages on November 7, 2026.

  • 3Droptop meets 3 of 10 rows in full on its first plan
  • 2LubeSoft meets 2 of 10 rows in full on its first plan
  • 1PM Attendant meets 1 of 10 rows in full on its first plan
  • 10Mobile Service Sync meets 10 of 10 rows in full on its first plan

Ten Assumptions, Row by Row

Each row is one of the ten scored criteria. The cells come from each vendor's own pages, linked, and a row where the bay systems already do what a van needs is marked as one.

What a bay system assumes, what a van needs, and what each system publishes.

The Two That Were Not Built in a Lube Bay

Shopmonkey and QuoteIQ sit outside the quick lube group, and each misses the van in a different way.

Shopmonkey

Built for the repair bay

Repair shop software. It answers the screen and texting rows that the lube systems miss, with Shopmonkey for Techs on iPhone and Android and unlimited two-way SMS on its $239 Basic plan, but it names no routing, documents no offline mode, and sells booking as the $349 CRM Essentials add-on with no service area rule.

How Shopmonkey scores for a van

QuoteIQ

Built for home service

Home-service software that began in pressure washing. It answers the screen row on every plan from $29.99, but its site states no vehicle record, and route optimization and online booking wait for the $299.99 Elite plan.

Software Built From the Van Out

Mobile Service Sync answers every row from the van's side, and every answer is on the $49 Core plan, which covers one user and 20 jobs a month. Growth is $175 with unlimited jobs and two users, month to month, and the trial runs 14 days with no card.

It also keeps what bay software already does well: a plate or VIN fills in the vehicle, and fleets get their own pricing, PO rules and net terms. Read the full review, or see Mobile Service Sync for mobile oil change on its own site.

Questions About Bay and Van Software

What is the difference between quick lube software and mobile oil change software?
Quick lube software runs a building: bays, a counter, a stockroom and customers who drive in. Mobile oil change software runs a van: the order of the stops, a phone app that works without signal, booking held to a service area and stock counted per van.
Which quick lube system comes closest to working in a van?
Droptop. It decodes plates through CARFAX, bills fleets with terms and credit limits, publishes its price month to month, and now offers a Mobile Service (Vehicle Based) operation type, though that type still has no routing and no service area setting, and Droptop has no store app.
Can one system run a bay and a van?
Yes, if it was built for both. Each business is set to mobile, shop or both, and each job is marked mobile or shop. In Mobile Service Sync the shop side runs on the web app and the booking page, and the technician app does not show shop jobs yet.
Is a browser app good enough for a van?
Not unless it says what happens when the signal drops, and none of the three quick lube systems does. Droptop, LubeSoft and PM Attendant all run in a browser with no app in either store, and none documents working without a connection.
