Mobile Service Sync Review: Oil Change Software Made for the Van

Mobile Service Sync is the best app for a mobile oil change business that we have scored, because it was built for the van rather than adapted from a bay. Each job sits on a vehicle filled in from the plate or VIN, one click orders a tech's stops by drive time, the iPhone and Android app keeps working with no signal, and booking follows your service area. Core is $49 a month for one user and 20 jobs; Growth is $175 with unlimited jobs.

100.0

Out of 100, first of 6.

Every one of the ten criteria is on its first plan. If a lube shop owner asked us what to run a new van on, this is the software we would name.

From the Bay Door to the Road

A quick lube system is built to keep the bays full. Mobile Service Sync is built to keep the van moving: the tech's day opens on the phone as an ordered list of stops, each stop is a vehicle with its history, and the job closes in the driveway.

The technician app is native on iPhone and Android on every plan. With no signal, job status, inspections with photos, marking a job complete, line items, cash and check payments and the time clock all keep working, then sync when the phone reconnects. Card payments and texts wait until there is a connection.

How the technician app works

The Car Is the Record

A plate and state, or a VIN, fills in the year, make, model, trim and engine on every plan. Mobile Service Sync does not look up fluid specs from the plate: the oil weight and capacity are saved on the vehicle after the first visit, so the second visit starts with them. Due dates count days, not miles.

Customer and vehicle records

A Route, One Tech at a Time

One click orders a tech's stops on real drive times, on every plan. It orders one tech's day per click rather than the whole crew at once, which is worth knowing before you put three vans on the road.

Scheduling and route ordering

Bookings and Stock That Know Where the Van Is

Customers book on a hosted page or an embed on your own site, and open times are gated by your hours, your service area and how many techs and vans are working. Oil and filters are counted per van and per shop, and come off the count when the job closes.

Online booking

Fleets, Texts and Reviews

Fleet customers get their own pricing, PO rules and net 15 or net 30 terms on every plan, and Growth and Pro add a fleet portal. Two-way texting carries photos, with 1,000 texts a month on Core, and a Google or Facebook review request goes out after every job.

If You Also Run a Bay

Each business is set to mobile, shop or both, and each job is marked mobile or shop. Mobile jobs never use a bay, and shop jobs never use a van. The shop side runs on the web app and the booking page; the technician app does not show shop jobs yet.

Each extra user is $29 a month, annual billing works out to $39, $140 or $239 a month, and there is no contract and no onboarding fee.
Will Mobile Service Sync handle more than one van?
Yes. Growth includes two users and Pro five, extra users are $29 a month each, stock is counted per van, and route ordering runs once per tech, so each van's day gets its own order.
